Lo-ho-ho.
So, after a few months of having only Animal Crossing for my nifty little dual-screened handheld, and otherwise playing Game Boy Advance games or downloading from others, I finally added a couple more to my...having.
The first was Sonic Rush. When I'd first seen this game, before I even got the DS, I had passed it off as a racing game, and paid it no more interest. My good fellow, Dustin, at Game Crazy set me straight last Saturday, though. It turned out to be a regular platforming game, like the old Genesis/Megadrive ones, so I went ahead and picked up a used copy for $15.
Sure enough, it was good old-fashioned side-scrolling Sonic the Hedgehog, with a few upgrades here and there. My favorite being the bonus (Chaos Emerald) levels, which are a rehash of the tunnel-running bonus games from the second Genesis episode, except you use the stylus, which is a lot of fun. As for the rest of the game, well, either I'm waaaaaaaaaaay out of practice, or this is the hardest Sonic game I've ever played. Lots of squishfalls. The acts are a lot longer than in previous incarnations. It took me 17 lives just to get past the first part of one level. Yikes.
The other game, after hearing the good word from Muse and another friend, was StarFox: Command, which I just picked up this Saturday. It's a lot of fun, as well! The controls take a good bit of getting used to, but luckily I had already grown accustomed to them through the download play of others' copies. Pretty short game; I beat it the first time through in a two and a half hour sitting. The neat thing about it, though, is that once you beat it along the default path, it unlocks alternate storylines, so when you play through it again, you can pick different options, and go along a different path, play different characters, and get a different ending. So, I got the first ending (which was oddly discouraging for being defaulted!) and Falco's emo ending, which was funny. Only seven more to go...! I like the tactical addition to the dogfighting. Makes for some fun stategy planning.
My friend, Brian (the other one with StarFox), had gotten a DS for his birthday from myself and our other friend, Jennie. Jennie then got jealous of the both of us having DSs, and so got one for herself! It's spreading. (>^-')>
Well...um...that's it for early-morning post-work tired-ass incoherent ramblings. Good tidings, all!
